Day 25: The Best Gifts

I received two gifts the other day from my 5-year-old twin nephew and niece (Kai and Poppy). They are by far the best gifts I've received as they were made by hand and heart...

A book by Kai

The right hand page was a game with multiple pages to get to a surprise.

And two family portraits (of my family of three) by Poppy. I found out that she asked for photos of Uncle Mark so she could draw his likeness. The tall one is my 22-year-old son, Aaron. Poppy was so thoughtful, she made two of them so Aaron could take one back to school with him.

Hope those of you who celebrate are having a wonderful Christmas.

    1. They are priceless! The book was a big surprise. My sister-in-law says Kai loves to make little books. I'm so glad that he made one for us!

  3. These are both such special gifts. I'm amazed by how 'ambitious' a project the book is - so many lovely little drawings - and I liked seeing the wee differences between the two family portraits (faithfully reproduced though they were in spirit). It looks as though both of the creators really enjoyed their work...

    1. I was really "blown away" by Kai's book too! He went through it with me, page by page and even sang the "la la la la la la la la la" to me! I loved the surprise of the Tootsie Roll and how the ribbon was part of the book and also the closure.

Poppy's portraits made me smile. The care she took to reproduce the drawing so that Aaron had his own copy. How it was important for her to remember how Uncle Mark looked.

These were simply the BEST gifts!!
