Searching for Roy G Biv III: Indigo Update #3

INDIGO---the most elusive of colors. I was back to the photo archives for this month's Search for Roy G Biv (the colors of the rainbow).

The Search led me back to some past posts...

I got to drool over beads from The Bead Goes On.

I remembered a walk down to the local Vienna, VA farmers' market last summer.

I was reminded of my industrious December 2012 when I  Furoshiki-wrapped gifts for all my family and friends.

And healing a pair of jeans that led me on the path to my Healing Cloth class.

I guess INDIGO wasn't as elusive as I thought!

Day 7: How to Do a Furoshiki Purse Wrap

Here's one more wrap and this time I'm giving a step-by-step. This is a Secured Purse wrap and I read about it in the book, Furoshiki Fabric Wraps: Simple-Reusable-Beautiful by Pixieladies.

The design on this fabric was created by two layers of printing with a spaghetti block (see Julie B Booth Surface Design News Issue #6 for more info) and then a knotted resist.

To do this wrap, place your fabric with the painted/printed side facing up. Turn your square of fabric so that is oriented like a diamond. Think of the points as a compass with the point at the bottom being the south point.

Fold the south and north points together.

Grab the fabric about a third of the way from the east point and make an overhand knot.

Do the same thing with the west point.

Turn inside out.

Place the bowl inside.

Take the two ends and make one half of a square knot (right over left) and pull tight.

Twist the two ends.

Make a small square knot at the top to make a handle.

Pretty nifty huh?

Today, The Bead Goes On is doing a trunk show at Star's Beads. I'm bringing my camera along (and my check book, as well!).

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be working at Star's Beads during the first day of...the beads go on...trunkshow. We've had this shop from Virginia Beach set up a booth in our store twice before. Everytime they come I become a true beadaholic.

They are best known for their vast selection of Hill Tribe Silver.

Though it is impressive, I have to admit that it is the color, texture and variety of the other beads that suck me in.

As you might have guessed from my obsession with hamsas, I also have an obsession with eye beads...those beads that have dots or actual eyes on them and are also protective symbols. I found myself spending a lot of time in this little corner of the booth eying the eye beads!
