Searching for Roy G Biv Challenge II: Indigo Update 3

Is this Indigo? Well maybe not exactly, but I couldn't resist a photo of these inky blue-black berries!

This month's search was a bit tricky for me. What is INDIGO? Is it a fluorescent violet color? Is it a deep almost black-blue or a soft worn blue like Indigo dye? Very perplexing! Just as we did for Roy I, Jennifer and I have left the color INDIGO up to your interpretation.

Blueberries...are they Indigo? I don't know but the ones from the farmer's market were certainly delicious!

My search had me heading to the local farmer's market last Saturday. It was about a 30 minute walk from my home and when I got there the produce did not disappoint. I'm realizing that I may have a thing for photographing fresh produce!

Is this Indigo? A luminescent Morning Glory.

Searching for Roy G Biv II: Blue Update #2

 I've been having quite a relationship with the color BLUE this month! Lots of painted and printed BLUE fabrics for projects and to sell. My contribution to the Search this month had me looking back to an amazing outdoor sculpture I discovered during a morning walk in San Francisco on a brilliant BLUE day.

The Search also includes photos from my recent walk around the streets of Old Town Alexandria in Virginia on a VERY rainy day (my sandals are still drying out!).

 If you are new to the Search for Roy (the colors of the rainbow), it's a little game that Jennifer Q and I came up with in the spring of 2012. Each month, we search for a particular color of the rainbow. This month it happens to be BLUE. Searching for Roy G Biv Challenge: Black and White

It's that time of the month again...the third Thursday. Jennifer and I are once again Searching for Roy...or after Roy, as I like to call it! This month's Search is for Black & White. My photos this month are details from the exhibits I saw at the SCAD Museum: Little Black Dress, Jack Whitten: Erasures and Stretching the Limits: Fibers in Contemporary Painting.

 If you are new to the Search, each month, on the third Thursday, we invite you to post photos of the color of the month. So here's hoping that you will post some Black & White photos on your blog, website or Flickr page and make a comment here. I will link back to you. Day 29: Making Some Artistic Plans for 2013

My mind was racing in the middle of last night's sleep. Ideas were popping. Mostly, I was thinking about A Letter A Week 2013.

I found out about A Letter A Week last year. Click here for a link to last year's blog. The project started in 2010 and was meant to be a way to have fun experimenting and to keep the participants working on a small project each week of the year.

The goal is to create two complete alphabets by the end of the year. Each letter must be presented in a 7 cm x 7 cm format. There is always a theme for one of the alphabets and the other is up to the participant. This year's theme alphabet is about Peace. Fiona Dempster, who is a fabulous book and calligraphy artist, is the organizer and originator of the project.

I've had lots of ideas flowing. I've gone through a number of ideas for the Peace alphabet in my mind. In fact, I was trying to locate a small dove pin that I had growing up and found myself side-tracked going through my jewelry box (and no luck yet in finding the pin). I would like that alphabet to somehow memorialize the 26 shooting victims in Connecticut.

The other alphabet is a lot clearer in my mind and may end up being the first alphabet I tackle. After experimenting with cardboard this month in my Newsletter, I've decided to make an alphabet of cardboard print blocks. I'm excited about this concept as not only will I have the printed alphabet, but I think the print blocks could be put together to form an additional alphabet. On the Ikatbag blog, LiEr links to a blog with amazing signs and logos using cardboard by cardboard artist, Mark Langan...a great source of inspiration!
