Searching for Roy G Biv Challenge: INDIGO

INDIGO...not an easy color! I decided to focus on the color of INDIGO dye for my photos this month. Had to use a bit of artistic license!

Maybe more blue than indigo, but loved this building in San Francisco

Here is the Challenge fabric for this month.

To join in the fun just post up to five INDIGO photos on your blog, website or Flickr page and leave a comment here. I will continue to update this post throughout the day with a link to your photos. If you do not have a blog, website or Flickr page and still wish to play along, I will be happy to post your photos. Leave a comment with your email address and I will be in touch.

The Challenge will continue until midnight, Saturday, October 20 Eastern Time USA. Drawing for the  INDIGO Challenge Fabric will be on Sunday, October 21. Remember to be eligible to win the Challenge fabric you must play along.

Also be sure to visit Jennifer's blog for more  INDIGO.

Fiona at Paper Ponderings has some amazing INDIGO photos showing bits of the dyeing process. Also enjoy her weekly Thursday Thoughts...this time about controlling vs. listening to the materials and the process.

I hope you will spend a bit of time with Lisa over at Arzigogolare. She has a wonderful post about her search for the ever elusive INDIGO, complete with an audio clip Indaco dagli occhi cielo (Indigo from the eyes of the sky). She promises an INDIGO creation...I can't wait!

  1. I'm sorry that I missed the deadline for the challenge this month (still working on that 'creation'!), but my curiosity has gotten the better of me, so I decided to check out everyone else's indigo.
I love all of the different textures you've included with your images, especially the bowl and the sand - stunning! And the pattern of your fabric came out beautifully. I keep meaning to tell you that I read the last edition of your newsletter recently and loved all of your tips/techniques for creating print blocks...an experimentation session is definitely on my list!
Thanks again for the ROY G BIV challenge...looking forward to 'Violet'(and I hope to finish with 'Indigo' soon)...

    1. Hi Lisa-Can't wait to see the final Indigo creation but you certainly haven't missed the deadline. I loved both of your thoughtful and inspiring posts.

I'm so glad you enjoyed last month's issue of the newsletter! I've really had a great time putting them together. The next issue is in the works and will be out next Saturday. Thanks for continuing to search for all the colors of the rainbow. Next month should certainly be a bit easier!

  2. Absolutely beautiful Indigo shots! The San Francisco building is striking, even with just a bit of Indigo in it. I had a hard time finding this colour for the challenge so I gave up entirely. I'll try to make up with several Violet shots :)

    1. Thanks, Ersi. I love that building too! Indigo was tough. I'm glad to hear that you will be playing along next month with violet.
