Peace Alphabet: First Ideas

I've been doodling and sketching some ideas for ALAW 2013.

Playing around with letter shapes and doves for the peace alphabet challenge.

Although these are fun, not sure that it's the direction I'll ultimately take.

I'm down in Savannah for the rest of the week visiting my parents...assessing some things. My Mom and I headed into the city to see some of the exhibits at the SCAD Museum. I'll share some of those photos tomorrow.

  1. What a start you've made on ALAW! It's going to be such fun to watch your progress with this too.

Enjoy your time in Savannah. Let me know how the exhibitions are at SCAD. We'll be in Hilton Head in February and I may just ask for a day trip there to take in some art.

    Safe travels.

    1. Hi Jennifer-Thanks. I'm on the fence about this direction. Thinking it may be more "light-hearted" than I intended. Had grand plans for it to be "deeper" so not sure.

The SCAD Museum is great! Not sure many of the shows I saw will still be there, but it is definitely worth the trip. Don't miss the orange knitted ceiling sculpture on the second flr. Also, Jepson Museum excellent and they even have a kid's interactive area.

  2. Oh, I agree with Jennifer...you've made a great start! I think it's such a big step to simply get an idea on paper, or blocked out with your chosen material. The difficult part is that ideas always look different on paper, etc., than they do in your mind - but I think the important thing is that you now have something tangible to work with. Looking forward to seeing how it comes along!

    1. Thanks, Lisa. I think I have such "grand plans" and had the intention of this somehow relating to the 26 killed in CT and this just doesn't go there. I do like the graphic quality of the letters turning into birds. I was thinking of taking this a step further with printing and painting. Guess I just have to make a start and see where it goes.
