I was down in Old Town Alexandria for a meeting with my group, F.I.N.E. (Fiber in Nearly Everything).
Old Town is a great place to walk around...lots of color, texture...little secluded gardens. So after the meeting and lunch, I went for a walk with my friend Ann in search of Roy (blue to be exact).
I did find some blue which I'm saving for Thursday...though searching for blue on such a gray and very rainy day was a bit challenging. Also a challenge was taking the photos themselves, trying to balance my umbrella under my chin and at times shooting photos one-handed (a skill I've gotten quite adept at!).
Along with blue, I found the full spectrum in a window display of tile...
and a cheery grouping of pin wheels.
I finished the blue Challenge fabric last night. Hand painted, salted then printed with a Confectioner's sugar resist and finally printed with fabric paint with some hand painted details. This fabric will go to a lucky participant in Thursday's Search for blue. Hope you plan to take part (tell others...the more the merrier!).
Oh! What a delight a stroll thru Old Town would be right now...rain and all. Of course, we've rain up here as well for which the flowers are thankful...weeds too! Can't wait to see the other blues you discovered.
ReplyDeleteI did discover some blues though I was running on meter time and the rain was pouring down I'll be combining my finds with some blues from the archives. The weeds are growing here as well though a bit more under control compared to last year!
DeleteWhat a delightful surprise this morning! The postman delivered me the 4 fat quarters of your lovely black and white fabric that I'd won in the Surface Design News anniversary draw. I had no idea I'd won so it was even more pleasurable opening the parcel.
ReplyDeleteI think you visit my blog from time to time and perhaps you'll know I've been having great fun with black and white recently - so I will certainly use the fabric.
Very many thanks - and I'll certainly be watching what comes up in 2013 / 14, Margaret.
Yay! So glad that the package made it to you. Yes, I have been popping by your blog and have seen your wonderful black and white experiments with paper and fabric. Can't wait to see how you use the fabrics. Enjoy!
DeleteI've posted Roy - all azure blue. The colour seemed to appear where ever I looked this month. I know there'll be some other beautiful blues to enjoy later ... can't wait!
